Along With our current Stud Books for Gypsy Ranch Horse and Gypsy Ranch Pony, we now offer a Premier Stud Book for Gypsy Ranch Horse and Gypsy Ranch Pony.
Gypsy Ranch Horse and Gypsy Ranch Pony ~ Premier Stud Book eligibility:
Gypsy Ranch Horse: Height over 14.2 Hands. Measured at the highest point of wither.
Gypsy Ranch Pony: Height up to and including 14.2 Hands Measured at the highest point of wither.
Must be at least 25 % Gypsy Genetics and no more than 87 % Gypsy Genetics, and non Gypsy Genetics must be a Stock Horse Breed, recognized as Appaloosa, Paint Horse, Quarter Horse, Morgan, Australian Stock Horse or approved Cross thereof.
DNA is required. Appropriate Health Panel Testing is optional though strongly encouraged. Equines that do have Health Panel Testing results on file with IGEA, will have "on file" noted on their IGEA Registration Certificate. Results will not be printed on the registration certificate.

Gypsy Ranch Horse/Gypsy Stock Horse or Gypsy Ranch Pony/Gypsy Stock Pony Category, is for Mini Gypsy Cobs and Gypsy Cobs crossed with Breeds that are considered Stock Horse Breeds, such as, Quarter Horse, Paint Horse, Morgan, Australian Stock Horse, Appaloosa.
Though these crosses are eligible to be recognized as Gypsy Sport Horses and Gypsy Sport Ponies
(Gypsy Sport Pony is height is 14.2 H and Under at maturity) we leave the decision to the Owners and or Breeders which Stud Book to choose.
The Gypsy Stock Horse and Gypsy Stock Pony Stud Book is offered due to the rising popularity of this Gypsy Cross and many Members requested this Stud Book to recognize and promote the Gypsy Stock Horse and Gypsy Stock Pony as being the Gypsy Crossed with the best of the American created Stock Horse Breeds creating a wonderful Gypsy Ranch Horse or Gypsy Ranch Pony.
Breeders and Owners of Gypsy Stock Horses proudly wish to share and promote the wonderful ranch horse attributes and qualities being produced in these Gypsy crosses. They are proving themselves as Working Ranch Horses, Performance Horses, Pleasure Trail Horses, Working Trail Horses, Show and Play Day Horses as well as simply loyal, loved Family Horses and Ponies.

GENERAL APPEARANCE
Compact strong build with powerful, ample muscle and bone. Heavier and thicker bone than Stock Horse.
Some may be stockier in build than others.
Balanced in proportion, standing straight and square.
Possesses strength, athletic ability for use in all types of disciplines.
Plentiful Mane, Forelock and Tail hair, hairy fetlocks and maybe even sparse feathering on legs.
GENERAL CHARACTER and TEMPERAMENT
Loyal, eager to please, respectful, docile, and a kind and willing partner.
MOVEMENT
Natural Flowing, effortless in appearance with correct gaits being walk, trot and canter.
HEAD
Expressive, noble and sweet head, a straight profile without coarseness.
Head in proportionate size to body, clean strong jaw and rounded cheek bone.
Balanced good width in between nostrils.
A heavy Roman nose or overly dished head and face is discouraged.
MOUTH
Even level bite.
EYES
All eye colors accepted.
EARS
Neat, well-set ears in proportion to head and body size.
NECK
Clean through throat latch though thicker and deeper than light breeds.
Strong, well-muscled, not to short, not to long and in proportion with length of back and body.
Slightly arched balanced neck with Stallions having more prominent features, without being overdone.
Neck ties in neatly at shoulder and withers.
SHOULDERS
Ample muscle, powerful, deep well laid-back sloping.
WITHERS
Average in height to body size amid muscle and well covered in flesh.
CHEST
Strong, powerful, well-muscled, not narrow and proportionate to body.
BACK
Broad, short coupled and strong. Loin is short, wide and strong all in proportion to overall body.
HIND QUARTERS AND HIND LEGS
Generous muscle, rounded broad and powerful hindquarters.
Hind Legs should be strong in bone and muscled.
Hocks are clean, straight and powerful.
BODY
Short coupled, strong back, muscular build, round from the shoulders to flank with plenty of
depth from wither to well sprung deep girth.
Barrel of body is deep with well sprung ribs.
Correct gaits being walk, trot and canter.
FORELEGS
Straight with clean dense flat bone, well set under body with well-defined joints.
Balanced of good length, muscled forearm and generous bone in proportion to the body.
PASTERNS
Matches the angle of the shoulder.
HOOVES
Well-developed frogs, wide heals, and strong hooves able to carry the weight of body framed without stress.
LEG FEATHER
Hairy fetlocks, some may have some sparse leg feather, others that possess a higher percentage of Gypsy Genetics may have more leg feather.
MANE AND TAIL
Plentiful thick Mane, Forelock and Tail hair and may even have double Mane.
May also include a bit of a mustache (muzzle and lip hair), whisker, and or beard hair.
COLOR AND MARKINGS
All colors, markings and patterns acceptable.
