This dedicated, performance-focused Stud Book is designed for Gypsy Cobs, Mini Gypsy Cob and Gypsy Drum Horses crossed with light, athletic breeds commonly utilized to excel in competitive, sport, and training disciplines. 

Owner Stud Book Registration Choice: Gypsy Sport vs. Gypsy Ranch

• Understand Your Options: If your horse is a cross between a Gypsy Cob or Mini Gypsy Cob and a Stock breed like a Quarter Horse or Paint Horse, or a Stock Pony Breed like a Pony Of Americas or Quarter Pony you have the unique opportunity to choose the stud book that best fits your horse's conformation and career goals.

• Drum Horse crossed with a Stock Horse or a Stock Pony Breed are only eligible for Sport Horse

or Sport Pony Stud Books.

• Review Before Registering: We strongly encourage you to review our dedicated IGEA Gypsy Ranch Horse & Pony Webpage to compare the working ranch breed standard with this athletic performance book before submitting your application. The final choice of stud book is completely up to the Owner or Breeder upon registration.

Stud Book Eligibility & Divisions 

To ensure clear categorization across competitive age brackets and show circuits, this registry is split strictly by mature height:

• IGEA Gypsy Sport Horse: Height strictly over 14.2 Hands (58 inches), measured cleanly at the highest point of the wither.

• IGEA Gypsy Sport Pony: Height strictly 14.2 Hands and under (58 inches), measured cleanly at the highest point of the wither.

Sport Cross Breeding Examples 

Eligible individuals include crosses of Gypsy Cobs, Mini Gypsy Cobs or Drum Horses with breeds recognized for sport capabilities. Approved combinations include, but are not limited to:

• Gypsy × Thoroughbred / Thoroughbred Crosses

• Gypsy × Quarter Horse or Paint Horse

• Gypsy × Arabian / Thoroughbred-Arabian Crosses

• Gypsy × American Warmblood or Hanoverian

• Drum Horse × Arabian

• Drum Horse × American Warmblood

The "INTL" (International) Prefix Designation 

We proudly recognize and track high-percentage Gypsy genetics within our crossbred registry using a distinct honorary prefix.

• The 75% Rule: The INTL (International) prefix is granted exclusively to IGEA-registered Gypsy Cross equines that possess 75% or more verified Gypsy Horse genetics.

• Official Document Display: Stallions, Mares, and Geldings meeting this 75% threshold will have the INTL prefix officially added in front of their name on their Registration Certificate.

• Phenotypic Characteristics: This prefix serves as an official designation that while these individuals are genetically verified crossbreds, their high percentage of Gypsy heritage means they may visually exhibit physical traits, bone, and feathering (phenotype) of a purebred Gypsy Cob.

IGEA reserves the right and final decision to approve or decline any registration application.
