IGEA Drum Horse Stud Book & Eligibility Requirements 

At the IGEA Registry, we provide an official, dedicated Stud Book to recognize, document, and promote the multi-generational heritage of the Drum Horse. The Drum Horse is officially recognized as a developing breed.

IGEA Elite Drum Horse Stud Book

 We proudly recognize and honor individuals of exceptional stature and presence within our breeding program through our premier status tier.

• Eligibility Criteria: The Elite Drum designation is open to any registered F1, F2, or F3 generation Drum Horse.

• Height & Age Milestone: To officially qualify for Elite status, the horse must stand 16 Hands or greater in height, measured cleanly at the highest point of the wither, by its 7th birthday.

• Official Recognition: Approved individuals will receive elite status honors on their official registry documentation, highlighting their contribution to the pinnacle of the breed standard.

• DNA is required.

IGEA Drum Horse Stud Book 

Filial Foundation Genetic Tracking:

• F1 Drum Horse: Must possess 50% Gypsy genetics combined with 50% Clydesdale, 50% Shire, or a split of 25% Clydesdale and 25% Shire.

• F2 Drum Horse: Must possess 25% to 49.99% Gypsy genetics, crossed with Clydesdale and/or Shire lines.

• F3 Drum Horse: Must possess 6.25% to 24.99% Gypsy genetics, crossed with Clydesdale and/or Shire lines.

• DNA is required

IGEA Drum Horse Breeding Stock 

• Drum Horse Breeding Stock Stud Book: Reserved for Drum Horse stock recognized and utilized for breeding programs that do not meet the minimum Gypsy genetic percentages required for the primary F1, F2, or F3 books.

• Non Gypsy Genetic Foundation Breeding Stock: Reserved for individuals with Non-Gypsy genetics used explicitly in the breed development of the Drum Horse. Eligible animals must be pure Clydesdales, Shires, or Clydesdale-Shire crosses produced from registered parents.

 The "INTL" (International) Prefix Designation 

We proudly recognize and track high-percentage Gypsy genetics within our crossbred registry using a distinct honorary prefix.

• The 75% Rule: The INTL (International) prefix is granted exclusively to IGEA-registered Gypsy Cross equines that possess 75% or more verified Gypsy Horse genetics.

• Official Document Display: Stallions, Mares, and Geldings meeting this 75% threshold will have the INTL prefix officially added in front of their name on their Registration Certificate.

• Phenotypic Characteristics: This prefix serves as an official designation that while these individuals are genetically verified crossbreds, their high percentage of Gypsy heritage means they may visually exhibit physical traits, bone, and feathering (phenotype) of a purebred Gypsy Cob.

• Base Crosses: Gypsy Equines possessing less than 75% Gypsy Genetics are fully registered but will not display the INTL prefix on their final certificate.
