IGEA Mini Gypsy Cob Stud Book & Eligibility Requirements 

​​The ​IGEA Herd Books include and recognize the FDTN Mini Gypsy Cob at 13 Hands and under (52 inches and under) in their own separate Stud Book within the IGEA Herd Books. Measured at highest point of wither. 

Understanding the Foundation (FDTN) Designation 

At the IGEA Registry, we maintain separate, highly organized Stud Books to preserve, protect, and document the heritage of the Mini Gypsy Cob. 

The FDTN (Foundation) prefix is a prefix designation reserved exclusively for recognized Mini Gypsy Cobs considered direct Heritage Gypsy Equine genetics.

• Eligibility Criteria: This designation applies to horses imported from or living in their homeland of origination (including Ireland, the British Isles, England, and the United Kingdom) and the direct offspring of these Horses. This includes horses imported in utero, approved imported embryos, or those produced via approved imported artificial means.

• Genetic Lineage: The offspring resulting from FDTN x FDTN parents will automatically produce FDTN Heritage Stock, regardless of where the foal is bred or born globally.

• Official Recognition: Approved Foundation Gypsy Cobs receive the FDTN prefix before their name on their official documents. Their IGEA Registration Certificates are printed on distinctive Blue Certificate paper and feature the Gold custom IGEA seal.

Path to the Premier Stud Book: When an IGEA-recognized FDTN Mini Gypsy Cob achieves FIVE full generations of continuous, Parent-Verified DNA, the FDTN prefix will be removed. The horse will then be permanently elevated to the prestigious IGEA Premier Mini Gypsy Cob Stud Book.

Policy for Imported Mini Gypsy Cobs 

• Case-by-Case Review: Imported Mini Gypsy Cobs that are not currently registered with an IGEA-recognized registry are handled on a case-by-case basis.

IGEA reserves the right and final decision to approve or decline any registration application.
